Smokin Guns Standalone Game Released

As we rang in the new year the folks over at Smokin Guns (Formerly Western Quake 3) where hard at work bringing another wonderful Quake III mod into it's own stand alone game.

From their site:
It's a bit rougher around the edges than we had hoped and a few bugs couldn't be squished in time. And sadly, there is no Mac support at this time. However, making the game open source & releasing this version allows for new beginnings. If you happen to have Mac Crossover, I'm told that works fine.
....
A lot of folks are chatting in our irc channel if you'd like to join us!
#smokinguns on irc.freenode.net

Download Here:
http://www.beer-garden.org/bg2/search.php?query=smokin+guns&action=results

BG is trying a server out @ ++Beer Garden++ Bank Robbery 0/18 72.36.180.29:27960

Bank Robbery
Quote:

Bank Robbery (br_)

As the name says, the goal of this mission types is to rob a bank and bring the money back to a secure point. To do so each player of the attacking team is equipped with two sticks of dynamite in order to blow up the safe. Robbing the bank isn't going to be easy because the whole second team is defending the bank and will try to prevent the other team from getting in. While a robbery might prove to be more difficult, it will also be much more profitable than just killing off the defending team. Once the attacking team wins a round the roles are reversed, meaning the team that defended the bank before will have to rob it.

It's gonna take me awhile to get used to the weapons and the whole 'buy' a weapon kind of thing...

looks pretty cool though..

Beer Garden thread Here:
http://www.beer-garden.org/bg2/forum/index.php/topic,2088.0.html

Creating A Map Rotation With Alternating Gametypes.

I've been asked several times by different people how to setup an Elite Force map rotation that alternates between gametypes.

Provided here is an example of a simple map rotation consisting of 4 maps and 4 different games. Free For All (all Weapons), Capture The Flag (all Weapons), Capture The Flag (Disintegration), and Free For All Disintegration. And back to the First Free For All All Weapons map.

This tutorial should explain how to do that, and then some. :)

Smokin' Guns (formerly Western Q3) Stand Alone Goes Beta

Good news from the Smokin' Guns site. The stand-alone release is now undergoing beta testing. Smokin' Guns (formerly Western Q3) is a mod turned stand-alone game based on the Q3 Engine.

From Their Site:
We have a test package ready! Look in the "Stand-alone Testing" section of the forum for the download link & other important information. If you can't see that section of the forum then you aren't a tester.

So, what does this mean for the general public? It means we have reached a milestone as far as the stand-alone project is concerned. But we won't be releasing the SA right away. There are still a few files that must be replaced, content that needs polishing, not to mention the bugs we'll likely encounter. Naturally, all of this will take some time. I promised the SA in 2008 & so you shall have it before 2009. That's all I can say. Stay tuned pilgrims!

For the pic-o-the-week I've posted a screenshot of me & Tequila. We are the first to officially test the Stand-alone!
http://www.smokin-guns.net/

Urban Terror 4.2 In The Works...

From ModDB:
[/i]Thirty maps including many old favourites like Docks, Ricochet and Revolution are being updated for 4.2. Dragonne and QueenBee are working hard on their maps. The player skins have been updated and a public test was conducted to determine the ones that suited the majority of gamers. The skins are designed to be seen due to the speed of the game. The unzoom on the SR8 has been changed so it does not unzoom when legs are hit and possibly the threshold will be changed. New grenade and blood effects. Armbands now show team colour for enemies no matter how they are set. Team mates' individual colours will continue to be shown in game and on the hud. You now have to crouch to pick up a weapon; no more gathering of weapons you don't want. Buga and exploits are being looked at and fixed. Last Man Standing has been returned to the game after many years. It's Free For All without respawn. Very fun. Jump Training is designed to help teach gamers how to jump in Urban Terror. This gametype will work on maps specifically designed for jumping or regular gameplay maps. The mapper will be able to add goals and trace the jump routes to show gamers how to do them. That's it for now. We will keep you posted as development continues.[/i]

http://www.moddb.com/mods/urban-terror/news/urban-terror-42-is-in-the-works
