I've been binging on old strategy games like the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. Historical simulations & space 4x games are my favorites. Some ones I know about, off the top of my head, are:

MOO series
Rot3K series
Nobunaga's Ambition series
Operation Europe
and of course the Civilization series and their spinoffs

There's a bunch more I've played, and they're mostly console games that I run on an emulator. Anyone have any favorites?

Short for Master of Orion. The best one's a tossup between the 2nd and 3rd game. I personally have only played MOO3 and it's one of the most addicting games I've played.

LOL Shafe, good old ASCII games. That's the only one of the games you all recommended that I haven't played yet. I haven't played Populous in almost 20 years... nostalgia ftw.

Oh, and Kroz reminded me of Dwarf Fortress. If you haven't played it yet, wtf is wrong with you? A new release should be out in a week or so.
