I've been Itching to play some good ole fashioned Quake III deathmatch. There where also some mod suggestions in the forums ( here), which I think we'll move forward with in the coming weeks. Anyone have any mods they'd like to see running? I see the server and tried to join but "invalid CD key" stopped me. Pffft- I have the original CD, but no CD key is on it or the jewel case.
Hmmm..... Slows down may Q3 gaming a bit.
@edit-
I tried the recompiled .exe off the web site that should not require a CD key and I get the error message "Client_unknown_to_auth" when trying to join the BG server. Again - hmmm.....

I'll doublecheck tomorrow with a clean install of q3.. I have tons of crap in my install.. maps mods, half finished things I wrote.. recompiled exe's who knows what else..
I'll let you know what I come up with.
Have you tried ioquake3 executables (I haven't yet), but it might be worth a shot.

Any thing new here Shafe? My daughter and I are looking forward to some Q3 gaming on the BG server. She kicks my butt in Q3, but it's a chance to game with her on something she likes. I try to get her on to the UrT server more and she wants me to join her on WoW. Seems like we agree on Q3.

It appears the IOquake3 from the web page does the trick.
Is the Q3 server up? (Can't see it through the in-game browser.) Would like to give it a try.

It never shows up in the game browser, but I don't wait for all 1680 servers to show either. It used to be one of the first.
When I try to connect direct with the IOQ3 or the regular Q3 I always get an invalid CD key error.
Guess we will stick to LAN gaming. Unfortunately, we never get more than 4-5 players and that only happens once it awhile.

Still haven't had a chance to do a fresh install and see what I come up with. Need to find the ISO of Quake3.. I'll look tonite and let you know.
